Five Day Jungle Trek

Itinerary

Day 1
08:30 AM – Pick Up
Our guide will pick you up from your hotel or guesthouse in Bukit Lawang village.

08:50 AM – Briefing
We meet at the Bukit Lawang Orangutan Tour meeting point for a short briefing about the trekking program and safety guidelines inside Gunung Leuser National Park.

09:00 AM – Start the Jungle Trek
After the briefing we begin our trekking adventure into the rainforest.

During the trek we search for wild Sumatran orangutans and other wildlife while walking through beautiful jungle trails.
Our guide will explain about jungle plants, animals, and the rainforest ecosystem.
Around midday we stop for a break while enjoying fresh tropical fruits prepared by our guide.
After lunch we continue trekking deeper into the rainforest until we reach our first jungle campsite near the river.
Dinner will be prepared by our guide and we spend our first night camping in the jungle.

Day 2

After breakfast we continue trekking deeper into the jungle where the forest becomes more natural and less visited by tourists.
This area provides good opportunities to see monkeys, birds, and other rainforest wildlife.
During the trek the guide will also show you interesting jungle plants and explain their traditional uses.
Around midday we stop for lunch and rest before continuing our journey.
In the afternoon we arrive at our second jungle campsite, where we spend our second night in the jungle.

Day 3

Wake up to the sounds of the rainforest and enjoy breakfast prepared by our guide. Today we explore another part of the jungle while searching for wildlife and enjoying the beautiful rainforest landscape. Our guide will help you look for orangutans and other animals while explaining about the natural environment of the jungle. In the afternoon we arrive at our third jungle campsite where we relax and enjoy dinner prepared by our guide. Overnight stay in the jungle.

Day 4

After breakfast we continue trekking through remote jungle trails where you may see more wildlife and enjoy untouched rainforest scenery. This day gives you the opportunity to experience the true wilderness of Gunung Leuser National Park. After lunch we continue our journey until reaching our fourth jungle campsite beside the river. Dinner will be prepared by our guide and we spend our fourth night camping in the jungle.

Day 5 

After breakfast we begin a short morning trek before returning to the riverside. Late in the morning we start the exciting river tubing adventure. Using large rubber tubes tied together, we float down the Bahorok River while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the rainforest. This activity is one of the highlights of the jungle trekking experience. The river tubing ends back in Bukit Lawang village, usually around 12:00 – 01:00 PM, near your accommodation.
