Bukit Lawang

Bukit Lawang is located in North Sumatra, approximately 90 kilometers from Medan. It is the most popular gateway to Gunung Leuser National Park and can be reached in around 3 to 4 hours by car.

The village is well-developed for tourism, with numerous guesthouses, restaurants, cafés, and trekking operators.

Ketambe

Ketambe is located in Aceh Province on the northern side of Gunung Leuser National Park. Reaching Ketambe requires a long drive from Medan, often taking between 8 and 10 hours.

The journey is longer and less comfortable, but visitors are rewarded with a much more remote and untouched rainforest experience.
