Itinerary – 6-Day Jungle Trek in Leuser National Park

Day 1 – Jungle Trek Begins

Start your 5-day jungle trek in Leuser National Park at 8:30 AM, right after breakfast. As the journey begins, you’ll walk deeper into the rainforest. Along the way, you’ll see wild Orangutans, Gibbons, Thomas leaf monkeys, Macaques, hornbills, and the Great Argus.

In addition to spotting wildlife, your guide will also explain the medicinal uses of jungle plants. Moreover, you’ll learn more about the rich biodiversity of this tropical forest. After a few hours of trekking, you’ll eventually arrive at the campsite in the afternoon, where you can rest and take in the surroundings.

There, a delicious dinner will be prepared by jungle chefs. In the evening, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Finally, fall asleep to the soothing sounds of the jungle, surrounded by nature.

Day 2 – Deeper into the Jungle

On the second day, you will trek for 5–6 hours through the lush rainforest. During this journey, there will be even more chances to spot wildlife along the way. If you’re lucky, you may also encounter wild Orangutans and, occasionally, the rare Black Siamang. As a result, the second day offers an exciting opportunity to experience the jungle’s rich biodiversity up close.

Later in the afternoon, you’ll arrive at the Landak River campsite. Once you reach the site, you can rest and recharge after the long trek. In addition, another tasty jungle dinner will be served by your guides. Furthermore, you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the river or simply unwind before nightfall. Overall, it’s the perfect way to end an adventurous day in the jungle.

Day 3 – Scenic Hilltop and Wildlife Watching

After breakfast, begin a 6-hour trek into deeper parts of the national park. As you move forward, the chances of spotting wild Orangutans and black Gibbons increase. Additionally, you’ll stop for a jungle-cooked lunch on a scenic hill. From here, enjoy breathtaking views of the rainforest. By 3:30 PM, you’ll reach the next riverside campsite. In the evening, savor an authentic Indonesian dinner after a rewarding day of trekking. Then, as night falls, fall asleep peacefully to the soothing sounds of the forest all around you.

Day 4 – Into the Wild Again

After breakfast, continue trekking to the next campsite. As you walk, keep an eye out for more animal sightings. Throughout the fourth day, you’ll have several chances to see wildlife in their natural habitat. Moreover, as you continue the trek, your guide will highlight unique plants and fascinating aspects of jungle life. As a result, this part of the journey offers both excitement and education.

Eventually, you’ll reach the riverside campsite in the late afternoon. Once you arrive, take a moment to relax and settle in after the day’s journey. Meanwhile, enjoy observing animals moving quietly through the jungle surroundings. In addition, listen closely to the sounds of nature as evening approaches. Finally, rest up for another peaceful night under the stars.

Day 5 – Morning Wildlife Exploration

Early in the morning, head north for more exploration. With a bit of luck, you might see a Sumatran tiger or elephant. After returning to camp for breakfast, you can continue spotting wildlife nearby. In addition, take time to enjoy the untouched beauty around you. The fifth day offers a deeper connection with the jungle.

Day 6 – Rafting Back to Bukit Lawang
