Upon entering the jungle, your thrilling adventure will begin as you start your search for endangered wildlife.

As this trail is regularly visited, the wildlife is well habituated, giving you excellent chances of spotting incredible creatures such as Orangutans, long-tailed macaques, Thomas leaf monkeys, and even Monitor lizards. Furthermore, you may encounter the majestic Great Argus Pheasant. As you trek deeper into the rainforest, you’ll also be serenaded by the sounds of the jungle, including the calls of gibbons, siamangs, and the rhythmic hum of cicadas.

Itinerary

Your exciting trek begins after breakfast at 09 am. Afterward, you will embark on an unforgettable 6–7-hour hike, immersing yourself in the lush beauty of the Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra. As you explore the dense jungles of Gunung Leuser National Park, you’ll have the incredible opportunity to spot the majestic Orangutan (Pongo abelii) in its natural habitat. Along the way, our expert team will provide fascinating insights into the local wildlife, including the diverse flora and fauna you might encounter.

After a delicious lunch break, your trek will continue as you venture deeper into the rainforest. During this leg of the journey, you may spot other incredible wildlife such as Macaques, Gibbons, Thomas Leaf Monkeys, and even the elusive Hornbills. Furthermore, our guides will introduce you to various trees and plants, explaining how they are used in traditional medicine by local communities.

To conclude your adventure, you will return to your guesthouse or hotel in the village of Bukit Lawang via a unique and traditional rafting boat, affectionately known as the ‘jungle taxi.’ As you drift downstream along the river, you’ll reflect on the amazing wildlife and unforgettable experiences from your trek, bringing an end to a truly immersive day in the heart of Sumatra’s wild beauty.
