Bukit Lawang Sumatra Adventure

one day Jungle trek

This fun one-day Jungle trek is great for travelers with limited time. You still get to see the beauty of Sumatra’s rainforest. But you should be in good shape and ready for adventure. After an early breakfast, you’ll walk for 10 minutes to reach the forest entrance. Once inside, your jungle journey begins. Then, you’ll start looking for rare and endangered animals.

This trail is often visited, so the wildlife is used to seeing people. That gives you a great chance to spot animals like orangutans, long-tailed macaques, Thomas leaf monkeys, and even monitor lizards. In addition, you might see the majestic Great Argus Pheasant. As you go deeper into the rainforest, you’ll hear the sounds of the jungle. These include the calls of gibbons and siamangs, and the steady hum of cicadas.

Throughout the day, you will explore the rainforest’s magical beauty, guided by our experienced team who will ensure you make the most of every moment. With each step, you’ll uncover the wonders of Sumatra’s wildlife and nature, creating unforgettable memories on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Your exciting trek begins after breakfast at 9 a.m. After that, you’ll head out on a 6–7-hour hike through the lush rainforest. This area is part of the Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra. As you explore the dense jungle of Gunung Leuser National Park, you may spot the majestic orangutan (Pongo abelii) in its natural home. Along the way, our expert team will share interesting facts about the local wildlife. You’ll also learn about the many plants and animals found in the area.

After a delicious lunch break, your trek will continue deeper into the rainforest. On this part of the journey, you may spot more amazing wildlife. These include macaques, gibbons, Thomas leaf monkeys, and even the elusive hornbills. In addition, our guides will show you different trees and plants. They’ll explain how local communities use them in traditional medicine.

To end your adventure, you’ll return to your guesthouse or hotel in Bukit Lawang.
